Grant Ulrich

Co-founder of Convergence · Residual & Secrets of Psy

  1. 01

What first drew you into the underground music scene?

It was the authenticity. The underground scene has a raw energy where people come together purely for the music and the experience — no distractions, just connection.

  2. 02

How did Residual and Secrets of Psy come to life?

Both started from a passion for creating spaces where music could be experienced on a deeper level. Residual leans into deeper, more immersive journeys, while Secrets of Psy is about celebrating psychedelic culture and sound in its pure form.

  3. 03

How would you describe your musical and event style?

Deep, hypnotic, and atmospheric. I'm always focused on creating a journey, something that pulls people in and keeps them connected from start to finish. I'm always willing to push boundaries to get the best experience for my crowd.

  4. 04

What is your role within Convergence?

As a partner, I help guide the musical direction and overall experience. It's about curating something cohesive while still allowing different creative energies to shine.

  5. 05

    What makes Convergence unique?

It's the collaboration between different crews and visions. Instead of one perspective, you get a fusion of styles and ideas — that's where the magic happens.

  6. 06

Tell us about your collaboration with Universal Frequencies Quantum Drift.

Quantum Drift brings a more experimental and futuristic edge. Working together allows us to push boundaries and explore new sounds while still staying true to the underground.

  7. 07

    What inspires your event curation?

Energy flow. I always think about how the night evolves, each artist contributes to a bigger story. It's about taking people on a journey, not just playing tracks. I think a blend between a decent visual and musical experience is what makes a great event.

  8. 08

What challenges do you face when running underground events?

Balancing creativity with logistics. There's always pressure behind the scenes, but the goal is to make it feel effortless for the crowd. When everything comes together, the reward and sense of accomplishment is unreal.

  9. 09

What's your favorite moment during an event?

When everything locks in — the crowd, the sound, the atmosphere. You can feel that shared energy, and it's something special.

  10. 10

How do you see the psytrance and techno scenes evolving?

They're constantly evolving, blending genres and influences. I think we'll see more crossover, but the core underground spirit will always remain.

  11. 11

What advice would you give to upcoming artists or promoters?

Stay authentic. Don't chase trends — focus on building something real and meaningful. Do it for the love and passion.

  12. 12

What does 'creating change through music' mean to you?

It's about bringing people together and creating moments that shift perspective. Music has the power to connect and transform — that's where real change starts.
